Launch of the new ClimbingAway iPhone (and iPad) application!

Climbing away iOS application will be 2 years old in few days ! And you can already "say hello" to its 7th version.

2 years of downloads, increases each day.

2 years of maturity, making ClimbingAway the climbing application number 1 on many App Store.

1 little sister on the iPad (we should say "big" sister !)

And almost 3 000 rock climbing areas in the box, thanks to our moderator work (checking and completing everything !) and thanks to your "amazing" participation !

(about that, we're late about areas you've added. Don't worry, each area will be treated and you'll be inform if you let us your eMail)

Ok, i'm already hearing : "yeah, a new iOS version. Great ! But I don't care because I don't like Apple and I love Android !".

Ok, we know you can't wait and we're making our best to deliver an Android application. But you have to know it's a big deal. I'm only a iOS developer so I can't do it. But a motivated developer join our team and is working hard on it. So be P.A.T.I.E.N.T, you'll soon be able to launch Climbing Away on your Samsung, HTC and others beautiful samrtphones. We hope before the end of the year. For christmas maybe ?

But let's focus on the star of the moment. We can't add all features we want to but we've done a pretty good job. Just have a look :

ClimbingAway iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

-> first, directions under iOS6 are using "Maps" application again. You must know that "Maps" application has change (no more Google) and we have to change 2 or 3 lines of code

-> next, the iPhone 5 has been released by Apple. And guess what ? Screen is taller :) So, we have to manage that too. Because screens have to be refactor to display more things. Anyway, it's done.

-> and last, but not least, there are new features, beginning with a new tool, joining the existing grade converter : a climbing terms translator. About the same as our dictionary, but you can bring this one everywhere. So when you travel out of your country or simply meeting some foreigner on the wall, you'll be able to talk easier about climbing and maybe climb together in much more… serenity :)

-> a map displaying all areas at a time, thanks to an optimized clustering method for iOS. And fully "offline" ! We've said it earlier : everything is in the box :-)

-> approaches available too ! With GPS and compass of your device, helping you finding the bottom routes, avoiding to loose your time searching. More than 400 areas are already covered (and it's just a start).

-> better english and spanish translations : informations and restrictions are now available inboth languages.
