En octobre 2017, le Président du club de Gourdon annonçait que le Rocher était interdit à l'escalade depuis plus d'un an pour cause d'un équipement vétuste et plus au normes. En juin 2020, il explique: "il n'y a toujours pas eu de financement de rééquipement donc le site est toujours interdit à l'accès, l'équipement étant partiellement déséquipé donc dangereux."
