Claire Murphy (now Bell) is one of the leading female climbers in the world. Claire was born in Surrey and only started climbing at the tender age of 26 in 1996. In 1999, she became British Bouldering Champion, and in 2000 she repeated this feat and also added the British Indoor Climbing Champion title (unbeaten in both competitions throughout the year). That same year saw Claire move to the USA where she has subsequently climbed V12 and F8a+ (see below). Now living in Georgia and with a 2 year old son she is now climbing stronger than ever before. Matt Heason caught up with her via email to ask her about moving to the U.S., climbing and looking after a 2 year old son.
